More individuals and families are nowadays searching for lucrative work at home opportunities. Several categories of merchandise or services can be marketed at ones to help people maximize their income-earning potential while arranging a more flexible (but still regular) schedule.

Several types of opportunities are available to people presently. In fact, if you want to work at home you are in good hands, as this is becoming a more and more acceptable way to earn a regular income. (People these days are not as surprised if you can make money at home as they might have been in the past.)

Five ways to work at home and make money include the following:

  1. Independent contractor (outsourced worker)-Perhaps you are an interior decorator or even a freelance writer. Usually you would complete each job on a work for hire basis. This means that you are paid for the work you do and the contract is usually for only as long as you are needed to complete a job. Graphic artists, web designers, or administrative aids may work in this capacity.
  2. Telecommuting jobs-Oftentimes a person in this position sets similar hours as an independent contractor/freelancer. The biggest difference is that the person is hired on direct and is a part of a company’s payroll. This type of position often includes benefit packages just as if you were in a regular job working at an employer’s site. Virtual customer service agents, billing support, administrative assistants, or medical transcribers may work in this capacity.
  3. Affiliate marketing-This is the process of providing useful content online to help attract visitors who then may make purchases from an advertiser who you promote on your sites or blogs. Usually this requires very little investment if any and you are not expected to sell your own products.
  4. Online retail or wholesale merchant-If you work at home in this capacity you may or may not sell your own products. The difference between this and an affiliate marketer is that you are the direct retailer whether you are responsible directly for the stock (inventory) or not.
  5. Digital retailer-Perhaps you might sell digital products. This is a very lucrative, low cost work at home opportunity. The products you offer are usually deliverable online. This lowers costs, and often requires no setup fees or shipping costs. A person in this capacity may sell stock photos, e-books, audio and video productions, and more.
