1. Prescription only diet pills: these are the diet drugs. These medicines are controlled and regulated by FDA (food and drug administration) and the side effects are closely monitored. They can only be advertised or prescribed under special conditions which are governed by FDA. They can only be prescribed to people who are suffering from serious weight issues i.e. with people who have body index of 35 or more. These prescribed only medicines are used when all the conventional ways of weight loss fail. These pills should be taken in continuation to your weight loss diet.

2. OTC diet pills: OTC stand for over the counter diet pills. They are categorised as the weight loss supplement rather that as diet drugs. They are also examined by FDA but don’t have the same regulations as that of the prescribed only diet pills. As [per the experts these should be recommended as a way of weight loss. These pills should be taken along with the weight loss programme and proper exercise. Just the pills can’t do much and the effect will wear off with the period of time. In fact if not taken under proper guidance or with no adherence of the diet chart they can also lead to weight gain.
