Certain types of diets known as colon detox or colon cleansing diets are becoming more popular. The reason why this is a more convenient, inexpensive way to clean out your system.
How healthy are these diets?
That is a good question and like anyone, you should know the answer. The truth is these types of diets (or “fasts” as they have often been called) are valid.
In fact, fasting for the sake of digestive cleansing is not only a healthy concept; it also is one that is based on spirituality. Even people in the Bible participated in various forms of this type of fast.
The fact that it has proven to be helpful over the centuries, you can be confident that this type of digestive flushing can help you. However, you probably are in need of more information on how to do this the right way-and you probably wonder if it really will do you any good.
So, where would you start?
Colon detox diets vary. Some of these include the elimination of any product that contains preservatives or toxins. For instance, certain types of coffee, canned foods, or starchy pasta can cause the clogging of the intestines.
Sometimes people who want to detoxify will also give up substances often proven to cause health problems. This category includes cigarettes, alcohol, and various types of over-the-counter medicinal products.
Another type of detoxification regimen involves changing the way you eat-at least temporarily. People will eat primarily fruits and vegetables and only drink water and juice in this case. Furthermore, they will usually discontinue eating foods that are loaded with all types of preservatives and additives, as already mentioned.
Eventually, you would return to a normal balanced diet, which by this time will include balanced foods. The goal is to detoxify, cleanse, and then learn that you cannot keep eating too many “junk” foods or foods high in fat and cholesterol. You also need to realize that the return to healthier eating habits will increase your fiber intake.
How does it work?
As you attempt to clean out your digestive system, remember one very important aspect of this: an increase in fiber and decrease in fats, sugars, and salts will help you become more regular. This is what will most benefit you as you work to flush out your system.
This increase in fiber is why you need to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables for one. Furthermore, when you decrease or eliminate meats at least temporarily your bowels will continue to move on a regular basis.
What are the benefits?
You will only benefit if you adhere to a colon detox diet, which involves eating healthy, non-toxic foods. Otherwise, you in many ways defeat the purpose and cause further problems.
If you eat a healthy diet and/or choose the right products to help you with this process, you will experience the following benefits: improved digestive regularity, increased energy level, less feelings of fatigue, improved confidence, and stronger immune system.
